Utilize Web Browser or Rich-Client

IT Service ManagementThe best of all worlds, Rich-Client, Browser and Mobile reside within the power of Cherwell Service Management, providing easy and convenient access to your centralized data from anywhere...your office, while in a meeting, at the airport. These are just different interfaces to the exact same data.  Our combination of a rich-client and browser-based web experience is similar to the approach deployed by the popular iTunes® product. The rich-client application can be installed automatically on a client device via our auto-deploy feature. Our browser-based deployment can be run from all the major browsers, including IE, Firefox, or Safari. Cherwell Service Management communicates over the web using http or tcp and other technologies that allow for easy access to your centralized data from anywhere—providing the best of both worlds—Windows® and the Web. Both our browser interface and our rich-client interface communicate over the web in exactly the same way.

Two Interfaces to the same data - Your Choice!  For times when Cherwell Service Management is not installed on a client (i.e., “0-client”), the application utilizes browser-based web tools that allow the end-customer or a remote-technician to access the system from any computer that has an internet connection. This works well for cross-platform deployments on non-Windows machines, such as Mac or Linux. For Windows’ users who access the application from two to eight hours a day, the preferred approach may be to implement a rich-client experience. In short, Cherwell’s rich web application has all the benefits of a browser-based application, yet the user experience can be better.  For example, if you have the choice to type a document using a rich-client vs. a browser-based word processor, you probably would choose the rich-client because of the better user experience.

The Bottom Line Is—YOU CHOOSE—Either Rich-Client, or Browser-Based!  Once again, we offer CHOICE!
